At the end of July, we rolled out our partnership with MITAGS, giving away 3 seats in Basic Safety Training and 2 seats in Advanced Fire Fighting to five very deserving young women. It was a fantastic endeavor that will help launch the careers of women who want to take the first step but for various reasons, don't have the financial resources to break into the industry. There are many classes and endorsements that are required before a new mariner sets foot on a vessel, and those classes often cost a fair amount of money. Last month we gave away over five thousand dollars worth of classes!
We can't thank the good folks at MITAGS enough for their generosity and support of the Sea Sisters community and of women in maritime. We are thrilled to be partnered with this organization and look forward to a long and auspicious relationship!
